It's almost time for the 2024 Virginia PrideFest! Each year hundreds come together in Richmond to celebrate another year of love, another year of diversity, and another year of inclusion in Virginia. VA PrideFest embraces and elevates all identities and reminds our community how important it is to protect the human and civil rights of all Virginians. On Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024 we will come together again for a day full of PRIDE in Virginia.
While PrideFest will be a day full of fun and celebrations, it's also important to remember how far we have come as a community, in our fights for rights and our fights for freedoms. For many, going to Pride this year will be one of the first times they get to experience a crowd of folks who are accepting of their identities. It's a special thing to experience such an accepting and expressive group of people because there are still so many places in our world that are not accepting, like we are here in Richmond, Virginia. But, each time someone’s unique path is recognized and celebrated, for the joyous and challenging times that were experienced along the way, the world gets a little more accepting and a little bit safer. Everyone with a queer identity has experienced something that could be relatable to another queer person, and when we share and celebrate together, there’s a chance to make someone feel less alone. So, this year at Virginia PrideFest, let's remember to tell someone that they are important and that they belong, not just in our proud community, but in our beautiful city, in our great state, and in our gorgeous world!
I’m so so excited for the 2024 VA PrideFest! The celebration will kick off with The Rainbow Gala Pride Week kick-off event on Sept. 7 at the Hofheimer BLDG. Then, on Saturday, Sept. 14 we will gather at Midtown Green (the former Bon Secours Training Camp) for Pridefest 2024, presented by OutRVA. The event is FREE and will be full of music, food, and proud celebrations from Noon-8 p.m. Pride will be headlined by Tank and the Bangas, Crystal Waters, and Robin S. We’re so excited to see everyone there!
