Richmond is A Fine City
CNN recently selected Richmond as the #1 town to visit in the country for 2024! Thanks to our many shops, restaurants, breweries, and galleries run by local residents who love to call RVA home, our city is getting the global recognition that we have always deserved. And when people come here, they come to see why we love this city! By the time they leave, they’re saying what we’ve known for years. They’re saying, “This city is divine!” They’re saying, “This city is sublime!” They’re saying “Richmond is A Fine City!”
Everyone who has been here for a while knows that our city is special for our concerts, cuisine, culture, and community. Now that the secret is out, we’re so excited that people are coming from all over to experience the city that we love to live in! Our newest collection celebrates just this. Richmond is full of unique venues, restaurants, and people, and we’re so proud of it - the Signature Slogan Collection allows us to dress like it
Finest Concerts
Music is at the heart of our city! You can find a concert to go to any day of the week and discover a new world within the walls of a tiny venue downtown, like the Richmond Music Hall, or see a touring artist at the Broadberry on Broad Street or the Altria on Monroe Park. The folk festival, River Rock, Friday Cheers, and more are some of Richmond’s premier events hosted on Brown’s Island. Drawing crowds of 200,000 music fans, these music festivals and others like the Iron Blossom Festival are quintessential Richmond experiences and part of what makes our city special.
Finest Cuisine
One of the best things about living in Richmond is the food! We have so many options that choosing where to go is known to start fights, but when you finally choose a spot, you’ll be served a special and delicious meal. Fine dining in Richmond is available at restaurants like Dinamo or La Grotta, but they are not the only spots that are world class. Mama J’s, in Jackson Ward, serves the best soul food for miles and is 100% worth the wait! Across the way in the Monroe Ward find Lillie Pearl where local chef Michael Lindsay fuses southern cooking with global influences into New American dishes worthy of becoming your new favorite meal. While you’re in the neighborhood you can stop into Perly’s for a bowl of Matzo Ball soup. Oak & Apple, in Shockoe Bottom, serves barbecue and local beer on the patio right off Main Street that will leave your mouth watering. In Carytown, find the original Sailor Sandwich at New York Deli or a delicious Indian meal from Tulsi. Stumble into Hot For Pizza, in Carver, for a slice of some of Richmond’s best and for an unforgettable vibe. The list could go on for pages as it seems like you can find an appetizing bite on any corner of the River City!
Finest Culture
Culture is what we are known for! Richmond has been home to some of the most culturally significant events in our nation's history and they continue to inform and cultivate our communities as we move forward into the future. We continue to make history here in events like Patrick Henry’s, “give me liberty or give me death” speech on Church Hill, the burning of the city towards the end of the Civil War, and the creation of the first reliable streetcar system, to the establishment of the first female owned bank by Maggie Walker, a black women, and most recently, a historical debate over the future of confederate era monuments. Richmond has played a pivotal role in many of our country’s historical turning points and that may be because of our collective willingness to engage in conversations with diverse viewpoints. We continue to support what we find important locally and internationally. This drive towards discourse is what has created and protected some of our large parks that people have traveled miles to experience. It has created an economy of thriving small businesses. It’s created a thriving arts community, as seen in galleries and murals all over the city. And it has created communities of diverse and unique individuals who love to call Richmond home.
Finest Communities
Richmond is home to some of the best people on the planet, and we’re not just being biased. We love to love each other in this city! Virginia is for Lovers is a phrase that we don’t take lightly and we set the tone here as the Capital of the state. You can’t help but notice how diverse this place is either. No matter where you go, you can find people of every walk of life with varied interests and opinions sharing and enjoying our beautiful city together! Our neighborhoods are unique and vibrant. The Fan, home to iconic row homes and divey restaurants is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in that state, as it bursts with color and life. Jackson Ward, once known as the Black Wall Street, is still home to black owned institutions and restaurants and may have the most cast iron architecture outside of New Orleans. Rocketts Landing, Manchester, and Scott’s Addition are growing communities on either end of town that are becoming cultural centers for beer, food, and entertainment. Downtown and Shockoe Bottom are the historical economic centers and continue to thrive as more people move into the most urban parts of town. Church hill is a cozy historical neighborhood marked by beautiful homes and parks that overlook the river and skyline. No matter what part of Richmond you call home, this place is historical, beautiful, and vibrant.
Richmond is packed to the brim and spilling over in excitement and experiences that are unique and unforgettable. We love to call this place home, and it’s time we start dressing like it! With the Signature Slogan Collection you can port your city pride with a short and simple phrase that says it all! Richmond is A Fine City.
